Hockney
David Hockney was born in England in 1937. His parents supported him from an early age and allowed him to pursue his interest in art. Before he moved to Los Angeles, he went to art school in London. While in California, he was frequently drawn to the swimming pools. This became his main source of inspiration. David started working with photography in the 1970’s. This is where he began his famous joiners. By the mid 1970’s he abandoned painting but would return to it in the 1980’s. At this time his paintings included portraits, seascapes, and flowers. In 2009 he began creating paintings on his ipad. Many of these were successful and there was even a showcase in Ontario for 100 of the paintings. In 2011 Hockney was voted one of the most influential British artists of all time. Hockney is currently still alive and is 79 years old. Hockney’s famous “joiners” were merely an accident. He took several polaroid pictures of a living room and began combining them. Hockney was doing this so he could paint it but in the end he had founded a new composition. David realized how unique and different this kind of art was and it intrigued him. I think joiner photography is very unique and provides a new aspect to photography.

Describe: There are photos of a light bulb, a book, and wires. The choice photos are of my friend. The minimalist photos each have a different photo filter and the choice have a colder filter.
Analyze: The first four photos are greatly emphasized by having little composition matter. The choice photos have movement by having subject mater in the background. Interpret: I chose fun colors to provide a more unique and fun look. I chose colder tones for the choice photos to provide a more gloomy vibe. Evaluation: They were successful photos because they are simple and don't have too much going on. My city is cold,
The people are cold. The weather is cold too. But, when the seasons change, The city will no longer remain cold, But, the people will. |
